Nice to see that someone else is using Solidworks for modeling. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the watch.
thank you so much for the watch°
:iconfastpokeplz: Great many thanks for the :+devwatch: dear!
Have a nice weekend! :iconcreepglompplz:
Amazing details!
I want to ask you something. I'm a student at a mechanical engineering faculty and writing a book "Fundamentals of Automobiles" in my native (kazakh) language. That will be a fully non-commercial project and need to illustrate it myself (just don't have money). For that reason i started learning 3ds Max, but couldn't find any blueprints, detailed sizes and dimensions of the car parts. Could you help me to solve this problem?
And by the way, as a 3d modeller, could you tell me which program is better for modelling detailed car parts? 3ds Max or Solid Works? Thank you!
Thanks mate.
3ds Max and SolidWorks are both brilliant softwares to get detailed shaped objects.
But with different basics. SolidWorks is more "technically oriented": the final result of a project it's something that will go on production, with technical drawings, part lists and (most of the times) structural simulations. 3ds Max is a good all-around solution. It's easier to get complex shapes (with curved surfaces, for example) and has less geometrical limitations.

Going straight :

3ds Max = from fantasy to screen.
SolidWorks = from fantasy to reality.

For post-production a good rendering software and Photoshop will be the cherry on top of the cake.
For detailed drawings of most car parts (wheels, brake discs, engine parts etc.) keep searching on manufacturer's and part supplier's websites. Official distributors has also PDF catalogues with technical drawings.
Or you could do as I do. A caliber, a couple of gloves and.... a visit to a car wrecker!

With passion and patience you can get amazing models even with Google Sketch...so keep working hard!

I wish you best luck for your book and hope to get a copy as soon as possible.

Bye!
